When the male terrier didn’t die after being pierced with the first arrow, whoever was taking aim at the animal, shot him again. Morristown/Hamblen County Animal Control officers are looking for the person responsible for the wounds, intense pain and more than $500 in medical treatment of the young dog. (Citizen Tribune)

Anchorage, Alaska -- Investigators call it a clear case of animal neglect. The Mat-Su Animal Care & Regulation Shelter in Palmer is caring for several dogs tonight that officials say were starved by their owner. (KTUU)

A nine year old Chinese boy, who broke into the crocodile enclosure in a zoo in South West China was dragged into the water and eaten by the crocodiles. (Raising Kids)

[11] Manatee Protections to be Cut Under Bush Plan Downlisting Comes Despite Record Number of Manatee Fatalities in 2006
According to a March 26, 2007 briefing paper from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) labeled "White House Report," the FWS is preparing a recommendation to downgrade or "downlist" the manatee from its present "endangered" status to "threatened" under the Federal Endangered Species Act. This change will reduce protections against the "taking" of manatees and facilitate construction of more marinas and other development in critical coastal habitat areas. (IDA)

A pet food manufacturer that recalled 60 million cans of its products last month has sued another company, alleging that an ingredient the second firm supplied was contaminated. (KCTV)
