Bob is a 5 1/2 yr old male that is coming into rescue cause his family can't afford to care for him anymore. He lived with an 8 month old female Dane and was great with her. He was very protective of her as any older brother would be. Bob would be great as an only dog but would be OK with a submissive female. He is good with cats and has been around young children and did fine. He can be a little fearful of some men(he did fine with the male and female evaluators), so he needs to go to a quiet home that will focus on positive training and give him the space he needs to adjust. Bob is a little rough around the edges and is not for the first time dane owner. He will be required to attend obedience training to build his confidence and to learn some needed manners. Bob is looking for a foster home! Update 10/25/08-Bob is much more mellow now that he has been neutered. He did very well on leash with a head halti and very much enjoyed the short walk he went on. He did great meeting a female Dane and walked well with her while they were on leash. Bob did good inside with the female Dane. He did growl a little when he had to share the humans. He responded well to a strong NO and became almost submissive. Bob would do fine with an older female Dane.

Update 1/3/10 - I met Bob today for the first time and he was a perfect gentleman. He was super excited to have some visitors and was all leans for some loving. He took treats gently from my hand and displayed sit and lay down. Bob needs to be placed with children 8+ due to some food aggression issues. He took treats very softly and sweetly from the 15 month old boy in the house but wasnt happy when the child got near his food. Bob is suffering from what we believe is a food allergy so we changed his food and is getting meds from the vet. Bob is looking for a Dane savy home that can devote the time needed to teach him some new tricks. Bob would do best as an only dog but could probably be placed with a very passive and laid back older female.
