They are counting on you to take care of them and save their lives. Remember to remain calm and follow whatever safety steps that your area disaster representatives are telling you to do.

  When natural disasters strike, relief agencies move swiftly to assist people but often lack the knowledge or resources to aid affected animals. In the wake of disasters, animals often are left stranded, injured, and without food, water or shelter. The AVMF supports veterinary related emergency preparedness, response and recovery efforts for animals affected by disasters such as hurricanes, floods, fires and earthquakes. The Disaster Relief Emergency Fund has assisted in the recovery efforts following the Grand Forks flooding in North Dakota, Alaska wildfires, Hurricane Marilyn, the Oklahoma City bombing and the floods in south Texas.
