We also recognized there is a need for a safe haven, for all exotic bird species in Ontario.
Because rescues in Ontario are free to do what they want with birds that go to them. “Example” if a bird looks okay it would not likely see a vet.
Freedom Flights feels that with all the diseases that are out there, this is unacceptable to think this way. In most cases these rescue birds have likely never seen a vet. The most important thing that should happen outside of quarantine, is a trip to the vet. No matter the cost.
We take in every orphaned, unwanted, and injured parrot regardless of species, or their caregiver could no longer look after their bird because of unforeseen circumstances.
Vets over see all parrots that come here. If we get a bird that it is requested it stays in the sanctaury that is what will happen. Other wise the vet will tell us either we can adopt it out or it stays in the sanctaury.
