The Stanislaus Wildlife Care Center was incorporated in October 1984. It was started by eight people working out of their homes When these eight people started, they thought that they would only get 100 animals their first year. They received nearly 300 animals that year. Within a year, the Center was based in a garage in Turlock. In January of 1987 the Center moved into a mobile home and chicken barn in Ceres. In 1990, we received an eviction notice because the school district wanted the land to build a school where we were located. By October 1992, we were able to move into a remodeled building at Fox Grove Fishing Access, a fishing park along the Tuolumne River near Hughson. We have a long-term lease of the land with the County and State agencies.
