Dog's Town Coonhound Rescue is a private rescue and sanctuary located in the foothills of North Carolina for Coonhounds, Coonhound mixes and some dogs of other breeds that have found themselves lost or abandoned in shelters. Many of these dogs are either gun-shy, not prey-oriented enough or were used as breeding stock. However, they make great pets once their hunting and breeding days have concluded. They have beautiful relaxed temperaments, even as puppies. They are scent hounds and will tend to roam so a securely fenced yard is essential. We will consider a home without a fence but lean strongly toward those that have fenced in property - an outdoor kennel is not appropriate for a coonhound nor does it substitute for a medium to large fenced in yard. All of the dogs at Dog's Town are pet quality only - no hunting.
