Description:

Concerned Madison County residents formed Friends of Madison County Animals, Inc., a non-profit, tax exempt corporation, in 1995, in response to complaints about the inhumane treatment of animals brought to the County facility. In March, 1997, Madison County entered into a contract with Friends under the terms of which Friends would operate the County animal shelter and provide other service such as county-wide rabies clinics. Two shelter buildings have been donated to the County through Friends' efforts.
