In 1952, Patti Page recorded an innocent and simple tune about a 'doggie' in a pet shop window. Page says, "At the time, 'Doggie in the Window' seemed like a sweet and harmless message," but times have changed.

Now, the doggies in pet store windows mostly come from puppy mills, causing Page to change her tune—literally. She has recorded a new version of "Doggie" with the same familiar melody, but with totally new lyrics:

New Adoption Program is successful at LCAS

This is an innovative new method for matching cats and dogs with potential adopters? The program's Adopter Survey and Canine-ality™, or Feline-ality™ Assessment™ and fun color-coding system fit together like the pieces of a puzzle, creating picture-perfect adoptions for shelter animals and their new owners.

It’s fun and it’s got serious science behind it. Developed by the ASPCA and Emily Weiss, Ph.D., C.A.A.B., in partnership with Iams, the program uses proven behavior assessments to predict how a shelter dog,  or cat may behave in his or her new home for the first several weeks. The assessments are used with innovative adopter surveys to match adopters with appropriate animals.
