The Hermitage Cat Shelter is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, supported entirely by donations. We are Arizona's first no-kill, no-cage sanctuary and adoption shelter. The Hermitage is dedicated to the shelter, protection and care of homeless cats, especially those who are often not considered adoptable by other organizations. Our facility comprises approximately 4,000 square feet indoors, with an additional 4,000 square feet of entirely fenced-in, covered outdoor areas. This allows our free-roaming felines access to fresh air and sunlight without the dangers an outside cat faces.
Mission Statement
The mission of The Hermitage Cat Shelter is to advocate for homeless cats in our community by:
- Actively seeking permanent, loving homes for the cats in our care
- Providing lifelong care to those cats who for behavioral or medical reasons are unable to be re-homed
- Educating the public about responsible companion animal guardianship
Vision Statement
Our vision for the future is that:
- Every cat is spayed/neutered and is cared for in a loving home by a responsible guardian
- People treat animals as the sentient beings they are, ensuring that they are neither exploited nor harmed
- The Hermitage Cat Shelter is a world-class organization, providing sanctuary care for cats needing temporary or permanent shelter, and promoting the innate value of all animals
