What is Canine Connections?
Canine Connections is a non-profit organization that seeks to foster bonds between orphaned, adoptable dogs and juvenile offenders at Echo Glen, a youth correctional facility in Snoqualmie, Washington.

What do the kids get out of it?

The partnership promotes responsibility, patience, and emotional development, and also provides vocational training in kennel operations, grooming, handling, and veterinary medicine.

What do the dogs get out of it?

Dogs spend 45-90 days at Echo Glen, where they learn basic commands and good manners from their student handlers; skills they may not have gained at a traditional rescue facility.

What happens at the end of the 90 days?

During the program, volunteers search for good homes for these good dogs. They also care for them on the weekends so they can get to know the personalities and moods of each dog.

At the end of the program, the student takes the dog through the  AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. And then, once volunteers have made a good match between a dog and a home, the student conducts an exit interview with the new family.
