Our Mission:
To provide temporary shelter, food, medical attention, and comfort to all abandoned, neglected and injured animals brought to us by the community; to restore lost animals to their owners or seek new homes for them, and to educate the public about the humane care of animals with a goal of reducing overpopulation.
Did you know that very few animal shelters in Western Pennsylvania accept all domestic animals, regardless of age, health or temperament? We have an "open door" policy, so every animal finds shelter here, every day.
For generations, the community has relied on us as a resource for adoption, foster homes, veterinary care, behavioral training and animal welfare advocacy. We consider the unique needs of all the animals in our care and work compassionately to prepare every safe, appropriately socialized pet for a wonderful new life.
The Animal Rescue League operates 7 days a week. Please call 412-661-6452 for questions about your specific animal needs.
In addition to our shelter in Pittsburgh's East End, the Animal Rescue League of Western PA operates a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Rosedale Boarding Kennel located in Verona, PA.
Please see the menu bar on the right side of the page for more information on the hundreds of services and programs that exist through the ARL!
