| Meet
Thelma. She came to the shelter with her
sister Louise, who crossed the |
| Rainbow
Bridge
in October, 2000. She is 12 years old now
and is very passive |
| and good with other animals.
She seems to lose about 2 pounds a year. When |
| she came to the shelter she weighed |
 |
| 22
pounds and she is now down to 14 |
| pounds.
Thelma has been the office |
| mascot for the Defiance County |
| Humane
Society since 1995. |

HELP
US FIGHT OUR BATTLE! |
| Over
2,000 animals enter the shelter each year. Approximately
1,000 of these animals will be euthanized because there isn't
the cage space to hold all of them until good homes can be
found. THERE ARE TOO MANY ANIMALS AND TOO FEW HOMES!!
This is why the Humane Society not only encourages spay and
neuter in the community, but REQUIRES it of every animal adopted
from the shelter. Those who allow their pets to have
litters may think these animals will find good homes, but
remember that every year the Humane Society has the impossible
task of trying to find good homes for each of the 2,000 homeless
and unwanted animals that enter our shelter. |

DO

| LOST
PETS:
Even house pets can escape and become lost. Your pet may
not be able to get home without your help. ALWAYS HAVE
PROPER IDENTIFICATION ON YOUR PET! Dog tags are required
in Ohio, but cats need help too. Animals don't know
better, but your should! If your lost pet is at the
shelter with no ID, it can irrevocably be adopted to a new family,
or worse yet, it could be euthanized, after just THREE DAYS! |
| |
| If
your pet is lost call the shelter immediately!
