The Suffolk County SPCA is a local, independent not-for-profit organization that has been servicing the humane needs, requirements, and enforcement of cruelty laws for Suffolk County, New York animals for over 20 years - NY State Law provides that there is to be but one SPCA per county in the State - the Suffolk County SPCA is in no way affiliated with, a subdivision of or funded by any other local, state or national organization. The Suffolk County SPCA provides an unique number of services and programs unlike any SPCA in the country! Our MASH unit, conducts spay/neuter clinics, provides educational programs, and supports senior citizens with the maintenance of their pets. In addition , the agency provides spay/neuter services to tens of thousands of feral animals, while assisting the residents of Suffolk County by providing for the health and safety of their pets. Our civilian workers are volunteers, from all walk of life, who work on humane support services (free rabies clinics, spay/neuter programs, animal rescue)  that the Suffolk County SPCA provides for Suffolk County residents and their pets and homeless animals.

    Our peace officers are both active and retired law enforcement personnel who enforce the New York State Agriculture and Market Law with regard to the prevention of mistreatment and cruelty to animals.  Recent events propelled the Suffolk County SPCA into an additional role, that it is very proud of, the Suffolk County SPCA directly supports the efforts of the various Federal, State and Municipal K-9 rescue services in the five state area.

The Suffolk County SPCA is willing and ready to continue providing these essential services to the county, state and nation.

SUFFOLK COUNTY SPCA THANKS CHILDREN FOR THEIR HELP WITH HORSES


On Sunday the 19th at 12 Noon Indian Head Ranch, 1130 West Jericho Tpk, Huntington, NY 11743, the Suffolk County SPCA will be recognizing the outpouring of help, in support of the "CI5",which has come from some young horse lovers.
The horses were rescued by officers from the Suffolk County SPCA from a home in Central Islip The horse's owner Salvatore Gandolfo was arrested and charged with five counts of animal cruelty regarding his neglect and inhumane treatment of the five horses now known as the CI-5.
The horses were surrendered to the Suffolk County SPCA by Gandolfo in lieu of providing a bond to provide for their care and continued treatments. The Suffolk County SPCA is thanking the public for their help especially about 20 young horse lovers who have volunteered their time to give the horses the care, love and affection to nurse them back to health.
Presentations will be made by Suffolk County County SPCA Chief Roy Gross to these youths. Certificates of appreciation from the Suffolk County SPCA, letters to their schools regarding their community service and photo's with their favorite horse that they have been taking care of.
The children, Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Gross, and Suffolk County SPCA Officers will be on hand to answer questions and make comments regarding this great display of public affection.
