Delta Humane Society Winter Open House
Saturday, December 13th, 2008

The Annual Delta Humane Society and S.P.C.A. Open House is here again! This year we ask you and your friends to join the animals and staff on Saturday, December 15th between 11am and 3pm for refreshments and snacks along with a tour of our adoption facility, cattery and dog kennels. You can bring your pet for a picture with Santa. The event will be at the Main Shelter located at 4590 S. Hwy 99 Frontage Rd near the Arch Road exit in Stockton.

The staff will also accept gifts and other donations for the many homeless pets at the shelter. Items that may be donated include: Pet Grooming Tools, Pet Beds, Blankets, Dog Toys, Powder Kitten Formula, Dog Collars, Dog Leashes, Dog Sweaters, Cat Toys, Cat Treats, Bleach & Other Disinfectants, 33 Gallon Trash Bags, Office Supplies, White Copier Paper, Kitten Food and Cash and Gift Certificates from: Petsmart, PetCo, Walmart, Target, Home Depot etc. A Wish List is available for download. Dry Dog Food Supply Running Low
November 2008

The Delta Humane Society & S.P.C.A. is running out of Dry Dog Food. Recent economic issues in the Stockton-San Joaquin County area have slowed incoming donations from all sources to a near halt. We are asking the public for help in donating dry dog food at this time. Remember all donations are tax deductible and can be dropped off at the Delta Humane Society & S.P.C.A. located at 4590 S. HWY 99 Frontage Road in Stockton, California, Tuesday through Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm.

October Paws for Pets Winner
November 5th, 2008

Work continues on the new dog socialization area.The Delta Humane Society & S.P.C.A. October Paws winner is John Berwick of Lodi, California. Pictured are the items he won and his companion Bella he adopted from the shelter.

The shelter Paws for Pets is at it again in November. To participate all you have to do is swing by the main shelter at 4590 S. HWY 99 Frontage Road in Stockton, California, Tuesday through Saturday 12:00pm to 5:00pm. Once you are there you may purchase a Paw which enters you into our raffle. Your Paw is proudly displayed in our front lobby along with all other who are participating in the current raffle run.

Delta Breeze Doggie Pageant & Lathrop Dog Park
Saturday, October 11th, 2008

The City of Lathrop held the grand opening of their new dog park and the Delta Breeze Doggie Pageant on Saturday, October 11th. The Lathrop dog park is located at River Park South (17801 Inland Passage Way, Lathrop). An interactive Google Map is provided below for directions. The grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting with took place at about 9:00am. In addition to the grand opening ceremony, there was a doggie pageant with prizes, a Lathrop Police canine demonstration and several vendors.

The Delta Breeze Doggie Pageant also began at 9:00am with a cost to enter the pageant at $25. All proceeds benefit the Delta Humane Society & S.P.C.A. and Valley Ministries.

Thank You Anna Colavita and Bananafest
August 2nd, 2008

The Delta Humane Society & S.P.C.A. wishes to thank Anna "Banana" Colavita, Bananafest organizer and birthday girl, for collecting items for the shelter. Items included cat food, dog food, leashes and pet toys.

Bananafest, sponsored by 209Vibe.com, was held in the afternoon on Saturday, August 2nd at Royce Farms BBQ located at 10880 N. Highway 99. The free music festival included The Second String Quintet, Pretty Mama and the Not So Hots, The Icarus Jones Collective and The Outlaw Dance Society. The event started a year ago when Anna Colavita wanted more for her birthday so she decided to organize a small music festival. She was surprised to see it draw 150-200 people when she thought it would have been just family, friends and co-workers. This years event is expected to be bigger.

Doggie Dash Festival 2008 Huge Success!
June 28th, 2008

The Doggie Dash Festival was a great success with over $29,500 raised! The Delta Humane Society & S.P.C.A. wishes to thank the Doggie Dash participants, shelter staff, volunteers, vendors, media and contributors who all made this event possible. In addition the shelter wishes to thank this year's major sponsors: Cooper Tires, Pacific Triple E, Comcast, Noah's Bagels, Sycamore Lane Kennels, Petco, California Hot Woods, R.E.I. and Kautz Farms.

Doggie Dash Festival 2008 was held on the morning of June 28th at Nelson Park located in the Brookside area of Stockton, California. The event was carried Live on Good Day Sacramento with Alan Sanchez. Pet contests were held in various categories and several prizes were awarded.

Dog Socialization Area Update
May 2008

Work continues on the new dog socialization area.The Delta Humane Society & S.P.C.A. is currently building a new dog socialization area in memorial of Holly Duncan former Delta Humane Society & S.P.C.A. Assistant Manager. The funds for this new area were previously raised at Holly-ween 2006 and again in 2007. Currently the project has built the surrounding fence and trenching has begun for the sprinkler system.

The shelter wishes to thank the Family and Friends of Holly Duncan and Tracy Grainger for heading this project.
