Improving the Lives of Animals
In Rutherford County
Due to limited finances, we have chosen to close our Adoption Center on Railroad Avenue. We have made the decision to use our resources to continue promoting the number one solution to our pet overpopulation problem and that is spay/neuter. Since January of this year, we have assisted in the S/N of 27 dogs and 34 cats through our low income voucher program. Through our stray and feral cat program we have S/N 132 cats. We are presently holding 24 kittens in foster care. We have adopted out 11 kittens from feral mother cats. All these will be S/N in September or October. We will also be trapping 48 kittens we identified in feral colonies that we TNR’ed (trap/neuter/return) during the spring and early summer. In order to continue offering these programs we have found it necessary to cut back on operating expenses. We will miss our little building on Railroad Avenue and we want to be sure when our sign comes down that you will not think we have gone away!
We will still be available to you at our phone number - 828-625-9361. You may leave messages concerning vouchers, inquiries about lost or found pets, and reports of abuse. Our mailing address will still be PO Box 998, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
Our website (rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org) is always current, and you can contact us through the web. You will receive a prompt reply. We will have adoptable pets posted on the site. We are looking for homes for our beautiful kittens in foster care. You can see some of them on our kitten link on the website.
As always we would welcome your financial support. We appreciate you as a Humane Society member for your continued support which makes our work possible.
