History

The Society was founded 85 years ago and has worked in the North Dublin City and County since that time.

It has operated a voluntary veterinary clinic in Drumcondra, north Dublin for the past 28 years - 17 of which was in a in rented garage. The Present Clinic was built with the help of Fas under the Community Youth Training Scheme in 1988. In 1996 the society built an extension of a small operating room where surgical procedures are carried out, especially neutering of dogs and cats, to help reduce population of unwanted animals. The Society operates a subsidised neutering scheme.

In addition to the work of the clinic, the Society rescues and rehomes unwanted kittens, puppies, cats and dogs, gives advice on pet care and assists wild birds and other small mammals who get into difficulty.

It is totally voluntary, receives no State aid and relies on fundraising and donations to continue its work.
