Chairperson: Marion Beisty Tel: 086 803 2592 Mayo SPCARegistered Charity Number: CHY 14728 Mayo SPCA was founded 4 years ago by a group of volunteers dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to all animals in Co. Mayo. We operate a 'no-kill' policy and in the main use foster parents to care for our rescued animals. We have obtained three successful prosecution cases during this time in respect of chicks, bullocks and a dog. We operate a membership scheme for the small cost of €10.00 annually, produce a newsletter and provide a membership card. Neutering/spaying is our priority, reduced vouchers are issued to those in need for this purpose. Affilliated to the ISPCA since 2002 we adhere strictly to guide lines/regulations set down by them. In April 2004 Company Limited status was achieved. We appreciate all offers of assistance short or long term for fostering, fundraising, education, transport and are always in need of help. We are supported by the Department of Agriculture. Dog Warden ServiceThe dog warden service in Co. Mayo is operated by Mayo County Council. In accordance with their regulations and the law all animals unclaimed after 5 days are euthanised. All dogs in Co. Mayo are required to be licensed, kept under control at all times, and wear collar and identity tag. Persons not conforming with these bye-laws of the County will be fined for each individual offence. About Mayo SPCAMayo SPCA was founded in the year 2000 and after a two year probationary period was officially affiliated to the ISPCA in 2002. The Society is a charitable animal welfare organisation which is run wholly by volunteers. Most of the funds to run the Society are raised by volunteers on flag days and other fundraising events, it has also been successful is receiving grants from the Department of Agriculture. It works in all parts of the county dealing with cruelty, abuse and neglect of all animals. The current membership is close to 200 persons and is continually growing.
