Our Featured Pets...
Why is it that no one wants to adopt grey and white cats? We have 1 adorable and wonderful cat that have been with us just WAY too long. Bandit is playful and loves to be petted. We would even allow her in an indoor/outdoor environment to the right home (she's quite a mouser, too). We just can't understand how this gal has been passed up time and time again. Bandit needs a home without other cats (or at least no dominant ones) but she gets along great with dogs and children.
****Guess the writing was on the wall for this gal as she is now a permanent resident of her foster home. HURRAY!****

***ALERT!!!***
FURRI has hit an all-time low. Our lack of funds and finacial situation has caused us to close our doors to any intakes at this time. We are not able to take in any more animals and doing our best to care for the ones left still searching for homes. Please consider helping us out via adoption, prepaid vet expenses to one of our local veterinarians, cat litter, and/or cat food (please call or email for details if interested). We hope that in the future things will look brighter for FURRI and we can return to helping this wonderful creature called "Cat". We have placed many homeless cats into new, loving families from locally to Colorado, Sault St. Marie, MI to North Carolina over the past 4 years and wish to continue once we are able. We are still available to posting referrals on our Petfinder pages and offer free behavioral consultations in an effort to keep cats in their homes. Let's hope for better times with the turn of the New Year.
Thank you,

FURRI is getting a new face. We are planning on making some changes to our general rescue format and policy in the near future. We are planning on separating the rescue into 3 different categories and will be concentrating on these breeds/types of homeless, stray, or unwanted cats exclusively.
1.) pedigreed (purebred) cats and mixes thereof and exotic breeds with wild cat ancestry such as bengals, chausies, savannahs, and mixes thereof
2.) black cats - since they are commonly ill-perceived as bad luck and seldom adopted (we hope to dispel some myths about them, they are GOOD LUCK to us, and we love them)
3.) feral or hard stray cats/kittens for specialized rehabilitation, taming, socialization, training, and ultimately... adoption or placement
All three categories will have limitations as to how many cats we can care for at any given time. There is no way we could help ALL cats that fit these descriptions and all intakes will be on a case-by-case review by our board as space allows. If you have experience with any of these categories PLEASE contact us to volunteer!

In the month of December alone, we were able to spay/neuter 11 cats. This prevented up to 70 homeless kittens to be born in just one breeding season. This would not have been possible without generous Christmas gift donations made by wonderful and caring individuals.

If you're wondering what gift to give your domestic cat this holiday season (or ANY season, for that matter)!
If your feline friend has become bored with all the toys you have brought to him/her!
We have the perfect gift - a gift of companionship.
Sometimes, people are unable to give their kitty the attention it wants or requires.
Many times, solitary cats are in need of social interaction with playmates of their own species.
We can help! Please consider adopting one of our homeless kitties.
ONGOING
Foster homes and Volunteers are ALWAYS needed. In our fostering program, we supply everything needed (food, litter pan, litter, toys, etc.). We do screen possible foster homes, and conduct regular checks on all foster animals via phone, email, and visits.
Socialization is very important to us! At this time we need volunteers to arrange visits with our rescue kitties simply to pet them, play with them, and just be there with them so that they can become more accustomed to interaction with humans. Please sign up for a "play date" with our cats.
Who We Are
FURRI is an animal welfare organization located in Manistee, Michigan dedicated to providing temporary shelter for unwanted or homeless domestic cats. Currently we do not have a shelter at this time, so our space is limited. In the future, we plan on having a "cage free" shelter constructed for domestic cats, offering educational programs to the public, along with serving as a permanent sanctuary for displaced, captive-bred, exotic felines (smaller species only).
