URGENT APPEALS!!

RELOCATING COLONY I along with another group altered and returned a colony of cats. It is a monitored colony all cats in good health altered and blood tested. I was informed yesterday that the shop is being sold and one of the concerns from the new owners is the approx 8 cats in the vicinity.

I will try and talk and reason with the new owner but I am not expecting a happy ending. This will mean that at least 8 cats mainly males will either be rounded up by pest control and destroyed or worse. I can try and relocate these cats which won't be easy as no one want them. All cats as I said are in good health although they are used to an outdoor environment they are quite friendly.

In an ideal world we would try and relocate them to a safe outdoor environment with back up. Stables stud farm have been very good to us, however the 40+ Blackrock cats used up a lot of favours.

If you know of a safe facility that would consider at least 2 cats can you please contact me ASAP on 01 01 4580855.

MARLEY WE are also seeking a permanent home or foster home for Marley, a much loved 15 year old cat. His owner is moving abroad and distraught at the thought she may have to have him put to sleep. Marley is so fit and healthy a vet put his physical age at only 7 years old! So he has a lot left to give. He is neutered, very loving and needs an indoor only home.

MURIEL Muriel is another older cat - 16 at a guess. She is coming into the latter months of her life and I would love to find a loving home for this beautiful, undemanding tabby cat. Muriel is FIV positive but this is being managed along with all aspects of her health and well being and full support and finacial provision would be given to anyone willing to take Muriel into their hearts and spoil her for what time she has left.

Please contact me ASAP on 01 01 4580855 if you can help or would like to find out more about any of these URGENT cases.

Many thanks Jan

Can You Help?

A few years back it's hard to imagine that KA was well, me! In the last few years we have increased our foster base and our core members, we have added a web site among other changes.

In 2007 our main objective is one of EDUCATION AND SUPPORT.

While spaces are always tight we are in the process of putting together information leaflets on what the public can do for them selves with our support.

The areas covered will be

SPAYING/NEUTERING.
MONITORED COLONIES.
CARING FOR KITTENS POST RE HOMING.
CHANGES NEEDED IN WELFARE AND LEGISLATION.

We would gladly welcome some help with this. I can type up the sheets but is there anyone with the ability to lay them out professionally also we need new posters so anyone with a flair for design please apply!

We are also badly needing funding for 2007. So we aim to have a sponsor a spay section and sponsor a kitten section. It would be nice to return the generosity of the public by providing a certificate and a picture of the cats and kittens folks have helped on their way. If any one feels they can help with this again don't be shy.

We would also like to push the standing order facility which does not seem to be targeting the right market as we only have one very kind standing order to date. I would like to re enforce that it does not have to be a great amount but E5 per month would soon add up. So any ideas from BRIGHT YOUNG OR NOT SO YOUNG FOLKS WELCOME!

If anyone has any expertise in MARKETING this would also be beneficial to us as we need more ideas on how to take KA to the world wide audience. And we also are hoping to expand our shop.

As always we are open to fund-rasing ideas. We are pushed for time doing the hands on stuff as are many others in our core group, personally I could do with a secretary to keep me right

We also hoped to start looking for business sponsorship so if your work place office can help let us know.

So I'll throw this open to ideas. You can contact Kitten Adoption by calling 01 4580855, emailing info@kittenadoption.ie or visiting our Kitten Adoption Message Board Many thanks Jan. X

ANVIL Ireland Petition

Animals Need A Voice In Legislation (ANVIL) Ireland has launched an online petition calling for the allocation of ministerial responsibility for pet animals. At the moment, there is no single minister or department taking responsibility for issues around companion animals and this makes it very difficult to effect change in all areas of animal welfare and wellbeing.

Kitten Adoption supports the work of ANVIL Ireland and urges anyone who has an interest in or owns a pet - particularly a pet cat as cats are classed alongside 'vermin' under Irish law, leaving cat owners and lovers with little legal recourse if needed - to sign the petition. If you support the work of Kitten Adoption, please take the time to sign this online petition as the allocation of a department or minister responsible for issues around pet animals would be a huge step forward for Kitten Adoption and other Irish animal welfare groups.
