This organization was started when our local humane society could no longer take in any abandoned animals. The
county we live in had no animal shelter at that time. We found four abandoned puppies and when our humane society told
us they could not take them, we decided we couldn't just leave them. A couple of days before we had picked up two puppies
from a county dumpster. With these six puppies Mutts of Love was started.
This is a privately run family group that strives to help alleviate the homeless pet population of Evans County.
Almost all vet care and food is payed out of our pockets. We collect very little funding from donations or fundraisers.
We take in as many homeless animals as we can, but we can only do so much alone. This county has a
huge homeless animal problem, so each adoption makes a difference. Every animal that is adopted ensures that we will
be able to take in one more of the disadvantaged animals here. You are not just helping the pet that you adopt, but
giving a chance to every hungry cat and dog on the street. We would like to thank each adopter that has helped us give
these animals a chance.
About Adopting
- Please remember to include the pets name in your e-mail to us.
- Each dog and cat are required to be spayed or neutered. If the animal has not been altered prior to adoption
we require a sterilization deposit of $25 which will be refunded when we have proof the animal has been altered.
- Each adoptable pet comes with current rabies shot.
- We prefer adopters come to Claxton, GA to pick up their pets, but will ship if the need arises.
- We do not mind traveling and meeting you halfway to avoid a long trip or shipping.
- We do not fly our pets only ground shipping.
- Adopters are required to pay all costs associated with shipping.
- Adopters pay $50 extra if their pet is shipped. This covers our cost for a health certificate, tag, and collar.
- Please visit this link for our recommended shipping service.

Bonnie Bunnie
Beagle/English Coonhound mix
Bonnie Bunnie started her life just like any other puppy. She had lots of brothers and
sisters to play with and a mother that took care of her and loved her unconditionally. Unfortunately Bonnie's owner
did not play with them or love them. Instead they loaded Bonnie and her seven brothers and sisters into their vehicle
and put them at a trash dumpster. Many people came and left. Some left food, some water, and some just the kind
words and pats on the head they could offer. When we saw Bonnie she was shy and withdrawn. She was the skinniest
puppy and had an obvious roundworm problem. Once Bonnie was here she recovered quickly and soon made friends with
the other dogs. She is still somewhat quiet and shy, but she has come a long way and will make someone a beautiful
dog. Bonnie Bunnie was born just like every other puppy she just didn't have a human to love her, you could be that
human.
