 " Annie will be getting her surgery" 

Annie, found near death in December, emaciated and shot,  is currently being taken care of by Pet Helpers Operation Manager, Kristin Kifer, where she has been gaining weight and regaining the trust of humans.  “After everything that Annie has gone through, she is still a sweet and docile dog, although socially somewhat shy,” stated Kifer, who is currently the caretaker for the slender Lab Mix.  “We are still looking for someone to foster Annie and help her through her rehabilitation after her surgery; perhaps we will find her 'forever' new family to adopt her along with fostering while she recovers .”  

Thanks to Kristin Kifer and  the generosity of the Charleston community, Annie is able to start her road to recovery.  She will go into surgery today, Jan 7, to remove her leg and will also be starting Heartworm treatments.  “Annie was so malnourished and near death when found,  that the time period for her recovery will take some time,” stated Carol Linville, President/Founder of Pet Helpers. “We are very grateful to the Charleston community and media for their support and help in telling Annie's story and for the donations that are coming in to help us meet all her medical needs and care. While Annie will only have three legs, we are very optimistic that with time and lots of TLC, she will keep up with the best of dogs and do just fine!"

 Pet Helpers has not gotten any tips or information leading to arrest and conviction of the person responsible for abandoning and/or shooting Annie.

March 22 - Pet Helpers 8th Annual Oyster Roast & Silent Auction

Join us for a day of fun at the Eight Annual All-You-Can-Eat Oyster Roast and Silent Auction hosted by Rosebank Farms Café and Bowens Island.  This event is held at the Lowcountry's favorite seafood dive, Bowens Island Restaurant! Known for its creek side sunset views and its rustic and timeless shell shucking grounds.  Guest will enjoy hot, delicious oysters, as well as mouthwatering Lowcountry Broil and grilled hot-dogs.  There will be a silent auction for everyone’s wallet and live music from “The Shakin’ Martinis” for shagging.  Best part, you’re able to spend an afternoon side-by-side with your four-legged furry friend.  All the proceeds goes straight back to Pet Helpers!
