The Lethbridge & District Humane Society's main
goal is to find the best possible homes for abandoned, stray
and previously owned animals from Lethbridge and surrounding
area. The Society has been a no-kill haven since its inception
in early 1970. We also strive, with limited resources and
volunteers, to educate the public on the benefits of
spay/neuter and vaccinating pets, as well as on responsible
pet ownership.
We do not receive regular funding from any
sources other than: the fund raising events we ourselves
sponsor such as bake sales, raffles, garage sales, annual Dog
Jog, etc.; adoption fees and membership fees; donations from
private citizens, and; occasional grants.
Our organization is managed mainly by volunteers and one paid
part-time Volunteer Coordinator . Our yearly expenditures amount
to approximately $80,000, the bulk of which goes to veterinarian
expenses and utilities.
All animals entering our haven are
vet-checked, given their vaccinations and all adult animals are
spayed or neutered. All female animals are spayed before they are
adopted. Because of severe space limitations, prior arrangements
must be made with the Humane Society office volunteers before
taking any animal to our facility. |
