| TWAIN is a small volunteer-staffed no-kill organization and part of the adoption process is a home visit. Because of this and our commitment to finding the right home for our pets we do not adopt out-of-state, we need to limit our adoptions to Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, and Montgomery Counties. If you are outside of our area, we encourage you to visit the site Hugs for Homeless Animals. This site has a nationwide directory and may help you find a shelter closer to you. As we add new and dedicated volunteers we may be able to expand our adoption territory. Thank you for your understanding. |

| TWAIN is a no-kill volunteer-staffed, non-profit organization that rescues and places unwanted and abandoned animals. The orphans we receive are spayed or neutered (if old enough), receive shots, and all necessary medical care. They are then placed in foster homes, not a shelter, or are boarded at TWAIN's expense until they are adopted by animal lovers such as yourself.
Anyone that is seeking help with rescuing or placing a homeless pet MUST call our number, 610-566-2093.
The intended purpose of our website is pet adoption inquiries, pet ownership education and enlisting new, caring volunteers. At this point we would like all other inquiries, including finding homes for unwanted pets to be directed to our phone number, 610-566-2093. We are currently unable to respond to emails of this nature. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Even in the age of the computer, TWAIN does require a filled out application from all prospective adopters. You can go to our adoption application, print it out and mail it to us. It helps us keep better track of our files. We are always happy to receive emails to try to answer any questions you may have about any of our pets too.
When describing the kind of pet you would like to adopt, try to think in terms of the animal's temperament, rather than color, sex, or age. Ask for a pet that will best fit your lifestyle and surroundings. Consider all aspects of your life.
For example,
These are all factors that can affect your new pet's lifestyle. A thorough and accurate picture of your life will help us find the right pet for you!
After we receive your application or phone call, one of our Adoption Coordinators will call you to set up a home visit to meet you personally, and to answer any questions you may have regarding TWAIN or the adoption process.
As a rule, our orphans make wonderful pets and adjust well to their new families. Pet ownership is rewarding and enjoyable, but remember, being a pet owner is an enormous responsiblilty. Please be sure you are ready to take on that responsibilty.

We currently have a waiting list for those who want us to help find homes for their pets. This is a sad fact that cannot be controlled. So if you are interested in helping us care for homeless animals by fostering please email or call us. We are always looking for loving people to help provide temporary homes for our little and not-so little ones.
TWAIN would like to inform everyone who has any interest in our organization, that we do not handle exotic animals such as ground hogs or exotic rodents. |
