Granny Rose Animal Shelter is a non-for-profit organization established to help animals in need. We are lucky enough to have a few good employees and alot of great volunteers. We do not euthanize simply because an animals "time is up". We keep them until they can placed in a good, forever home. Therefore, sometimes our pets may not move for awhile, but euthanizing a good animal simply because it's perfect family has not found them yet is not an option. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! Even an hour a week can make ALOT of difference in a dog's or cat's life. They thrive and live for human attention...please, if you can donate ANY time at all, call Judy at 815-288-7387 or email at judylohse@gmail.com and see what you can do to make a difference in a homeless pet's life! The look in their eyes or lick of your face will keep you coming back! :-)
We are also always in need of the following supplies; Postage Stamps, Pet Toys, Iams Dog Food, Purina Dog Chow (green bag); Kitten Chow; Canned Cat and Dog Food, Bleach, Paper Towels; Kitty Litter; Dog/Cat Treats & old blankets/towels. (Can food is always a treat for the animals...for both cats and dogs!!)
Do you just throw away your ALUMINUM CANS? Bring them, (not crushed) to the shelter for us to recycle. There is a dumpster located right outside the shelter's door to collect them. Afterall, every cent helps!
RECEIPT OF APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AVAILABILITY OF ADOPTION. ---WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL TO THE HOME WE SEE BEST SUITED. Our adoption fees are: DOGS & PUPPIES - $110.00 CATS AND KITTENS: $75.00 ADOPTION FEES INCLUDE: pet being spayed/neutered, shots, (except rabies), microchipped, dogs are heartworm tested, heartworm preventative, worming, free vet checkup at participating local vet clinic and during appropriate months, Frontline. Unfortunately, puppies that we have cannot be adopted out to those living outside the Tri-County area UNTIL they are spayed/neutered...we regret having this policy, but enforcing that a pet being fixed must be a priority and it is easier to ensure this gets done when living nearby. Some people still try to breed even when adopted through a shelter...I hope everyone can understand why this is...there are enough unwanted, uncared for pets in this world and we are just trying to do our best in controlling it.613 River Lane
