Over One Million Animals Find Homes during Home 4 the Holidays 2008
The 10th annual Iams Home 4 the Holidays animal adoption drive campaign has achieved its goal in finding families for over one million orphaned animals worldwide. The Cheyenne Animal Shelter participated in the adoption drive and found homes for 321 canines, 407 felines and 21 small critters. That's a total of 749 animals that are now a part of new, compassionate families.
Iams Home 4 the Holidays began in 1999 when Helen Woodward Animal Center organized 14 shelters in San Diego County to work together. The goal was to increase adoptions, lower the number of animals in shelters, and take business away from puppy mills and backyard breeders during their most lucrative time of year. Today, Iams Home 4 the Holidays is the largest and most successful animal adoption drive in history.
"More lives have been saved this holiday season than ever before!" says Trisha St. George, spokesperson for Helen Woodward Animal Center and Iams Home 4 the Holidays. "More families bring pets into their homes during the holidays than any other time of the year. It's exciting to see families adopting their new best friend from their local shelters, saving one life at a time!"
The Cheyenne Animal Shelter would like to thank every family that came out and elected to adopt rather than buy this holiday season! We would also like to thank the local media for being so supportive this holiday season and for helping us spread the word about all of our great animals needing homes. Together, we are mending lives.
