The Rock Springs Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the placement of previously homeless animals in new, loving environments.
We alter and vaccinate all animals prior to placement, and screen all applicants to ensure a lifelong match between people and pets. We also educate the community about the importance of spaying and neutering pets, proper pet care, and animal welfare. We place dogs, cats and exotic animals in loving, forever homes!
We are also always in need of in-kind donations. Right now we are looking for the following:
Cat litter; Cat blankets/beds; Rabbit and Guinea Pig Food; Rodent litter; Paper towels; Bleach and other cleaning products; Garbage Bags; Latex Gloves; Postage Stamps
Please be advised of our new winter hours . For the next few months we will be open 12-5pm, seven days per week.
New Website in the works! Watch this space for information on our new and improved website at www.rshumanesociety.org - it should be live by end of December 2008.
Even with slick roads and snow we had a great turnout at SantaPaws on December 13th! Thanks to everyone for your support and thanks to Joe's Pet Depot for hosting us.
Photos will be ready for pickup at the Humane Society the afternoon of December 23rd. We will hold them on-site indefinitely and will call to remind you to pick them up!
Congratulations to our Doggie and Kitty Christmas Stocking raffle winners: Bryanne Saavedra, Leslie Joe Gatti, Jo Gustke, and Steve Giorgias.
Our first-annual Holiday Market on November 15th out at the Humane Society was so much fun! Thank you for coming down to do some holiday shopping and help the homeless pets at the shelter. It was such a hit we are already planning the next one for spring 2009!
Thank you to the following businesses:
- Rock Springs Coffee & Herb for their in-kind and cash donations
- the Walmart in Rock Springs for giving us a gift card to purchase supplies for this event
-the Silpada, Passion Parties, Tupperware, Pampered Chef, and Cookie Lee vendors for donating a portion of their sales toward the shelter.
Our 3rd Annual Dracupaws was a resounding success on October 25th! Thank you for your support!
All applicants are screened to ensure the best match between you and the pet you wish to adopt. Your honesty during the application process will ensure you adopt the best pet for you...and that the animal receives the best home!
To keep in mind when you're considering adoption: we do not allow dogs to be kept on chains and we do not allow dogs or cats to be kept solely outdoors. The animals in our care are full of joy and affection -they deserve to be your cherished companions!
Our fees are $100 for dogs, $120 for puppies, $80 for cats and $100 for kittens. The adoption fee for exotic animals varies by species. This fee covers the cost of spaying/neutering your new pet, and providing vaccinations.
We also welcome any inquiries from breed rescue organizations concerning the adoption of our pure-bred animals. We have the utmost respect for all the dedicated and hardworking people giving their all for the breed they love, and will be glad to work with any breed rescue organization that believes in spaying/neutering.
From I-80, take Rock Springs Elk Street Exit, turn north/right onto Elk Street/Highway 191 North. Turn west/left on Yellowstone Road. Our shelter is on the right, about a mile past the Mobil gas station. Our hours are 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, seven days per week. We are closed on major holidays.
