As your local animal rescue groups dedicated to animal welfare, we urge you to not patronize businesses that contribute to the misery of puppymills. By purchasing a puppy from a pet store you condem the parents to lives of misery. Say no to puppymills, help end the suffering. Thinking of buying a new dog or cat? Why not adopt instead! Every year millions of animals are euthanized due to overcrowding in shelters and not enough homes. In many cases they are perfect companion animals and many are pure bred. It happens too often when people see a breed that looks good or see a well trained animal in a movie and they think, "that is the companion for me", but don't look into the mentality or needs of the breed. Once they discover the personality of the animal does not fit their lifestyle, the animal is off to the pound. When you take an animal to the pound you could very well be killing that animal. Without researching the type of breed and compatibility to your lifestyle, you could be getting into more than you bargained for. There are rescue groups out there for every type of breed imaginable and tons of information just a click away covering all aspects of the breed you think is right. Please do yourself and the animal a favor by looking into the breed before making the decision to add him/her to your life. Check out our links to many different rescue groups all over the US. |
