Richmond Animal League, Inc. is Richmond’s oldest non-profit, no-kill humane society. RAL was founded in 1979 by a group of local good Samaritans concerned about the hundreds of stray animals in the area. Richmond Animal League (RAL) held its Best In Show Grand Finale at Toad’s Place - the culmination of a nine week fundraising competition among 6 community members. The evening consisted of a silent auction, cocktails, dinner and a band. Lorie Roberts of Midlothian became RAL’s first “Best In Show” after raising over $23,000 – the most by any single candidate. Mrs. Roberts works at W. Baxter Perkinson, Jr., D.D.S. and Associates, Ltd.
