Hundreds of homeless and unwanted dogs and cats in KCHA need your help. At KCHA (Kanawha Charleston Humane Association), we help you find the perfect companion.
If you have a big heart, time to spare and a willingness to open your home to loving and needy animals, then you are just the person we are looking for.
We stop adopting animals 30 minutes prior to closing each day.

To help sick, aggressive or injured animals:
Call the KCHA (Kanawha Charleston Animal Shelter) during business hours at (304) 342-1576. Any other time, you can call the Emergency number at (304) 347-0800 and they will contact and take appropriate action.If you find a lost animal:
Call the Shelter and leave information during business hours. If you lose an animal:
It is best to visit the Shelter or Shelters near you and look for your pet. If you do not find your pet, put in a missing animal report while you are there. You can make flyers and post them about 1 mile radius from point last seen- A photo may be helpful. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Above all don't give up!!!.Sometimes people find a pet and keep them for weeks before reporting them. You can also advertise in the Charleston Newspapers under LOST & FOUND. You can enter the information in our new Lost Pet Form on the left side of the page To prevent your pets from being lost:
Be sure to license your pet and make sure they are wearing I.D. tags and licenses. Keep in a secure yard. There is information on cat confinement measures available at the Shelter.
