Best Little Rabbit, Rodent and Ferret House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) no-kill animal shelter (tax ID 91-1873550) supported by money from sales and services offered at our shelter, and by public donations.

All of our animals are rescued, primarily from city and county shelters and humane societies.

2008 - A Defining Year

2008 was a busy year for us and our organization has experienced many changes. Read some of the rescue stories from this year here.

Many of you have been following our progress at Rabbit Meadows Sanctuary, from our initial move to the development of our plans to consolodate our shelter, sanctuary and adoption center. We are now planning the construction phase of our project which will include cottage-like buildings for vital services such as adoption housing, a feral rabbit shelter, an education building, a vet clinic and much more!

We need your help to complete this project. Read more about our plans and how you can be a part here.

MEET BELLA, Bunny of the Month

Things started badly for Bella when she bit a volunteer at a local humane society, instantly earning herself a place on the "unadoptable list." After coming to BLRRFH she didn't waste any time biting the next person to try to put food in her bowl. But Bella has a secret that we finally figured out. She's deaf!

As long as Bella isn't taken by surprise and as long as she is given some idea of what is about to happen, turns out she loves attention and affection. We've now worked out a system of sign language with Bella and we think she'd be the perfect rabbit for someone who can speak her language.Maybe you're the one to give her that chance? Donate to Bella

FANTASTIC NEW RABBIT CARE BOOK!

When Your Rabbit Needs Special Care is an illustrated guide to the care and behavior of rabbits with special needs. The book provides information on topics as diverse as how to administer subcutaneous fluids to a rabbit and how sounds and color help promote healing.

Quotes from top rabbit veterinarians and alternative healing practitioners from across the country are included, as are useful tips from rabbit owners who have had experience in dealing with particular medical conditions. The text is illustrated with both photographs and drawings, making it easy for readers to follow.

Authors Lucile C. Moore and Kathy Smith provide pet owners with special-needs rabbits with information on basic care, pain control, digestive system problems, chronic illnesses, physically challenged rabbits, progressive disabilities causing mobility problems, dental care, elderbuns, and emotional issues.

The welfare of all rabbits, rodents and ferrets is our primary consideration. We believe that all are equally valuable regardless of breed purity, temperament, state of health, or relationship to humans.

It is in the best interest of rabbits, rodents and ferrets to be neutered/spayed, to live in human housing where supervision and protection are provided, and to be treated for illnesses by veterinarians.

Rabbits, rodents, and ferrets are intelligent and social animals who require mental stimulation, toys, exercise, and social interaction from humans and other animals.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US!
ALL donations given to BLRRFH go to helping our rabbits, rodents, ferrets and guinea pigs.
