The Shelter Hours Are Monday Thru Saturday 9:00 A.M To 1:00 P.M. The Shelter Is Closed On Sundays And Holidays. We will make every effort to meet with you after hours, but you will need to make contact with one of us during regular scheduled hours. Atherton Kennels Has Been The Contracted Shelter for Malheur County And The City Of Ontario Since 1970. Contrary To Rumors, Atherton Kennels Is Still Open Just Ask New Happy Dog Owners All Over The Pacific Northwest. Thank You Again For All Of Your Support.

Here are some very important ways for you as an individual can help prevent Euthanasia in this or any other Shelter. Spay & Neuter, License your animal so if it is brought out to the Shelter we can contact you and let you know your best friend is here and to come and get him or her. Adoptions, if it breaks your heart for an animal to be Euthanized, then go visit your local Shelter and Adopt an animal, actions speak louder than words. If it breaks your heart then do something about it. License your pet, go to a Shelter and Adopt.

After much soul searching we have decided it is time to make a major change in our lives and current situation, and place our property up for sale. This includes 2 homes, 2 bldgs. containing kennels, a grooming bldg., and 2 additional bldgs. All of this sits on 2.83 acres. REMEMBER: Wonderful dogs enter shelters everyday throughout the nation, and those individuals that work in the shelters are doing so out of a sincere love for these animals. But none of us can do it alone, we need people to donate food, but also to become responsible with their own pets, and for those that don't have a pet but are considering getting one, have a shelter be your first stop not your last. It has been proven that a "Shelter Pet is the Best Pet".
